Amazon Troubleshooting

Amazon Listing Suppressed? Here's Why — and How to Fix It

A suppressed listing is invisible in search and can't receive orders until the underlying issue is resolved. Below are the most common causes, in the order sellers report hitting them most often, with the exact fix for each.

1. Missing required attributes

Amazon requires certain fields depending on category (size, color, material, product description). If any required attribute is blank, the listing can be suppressed automatically.

Fix: Go to Manage Inventory → "Fix Suppressed Listings" in Seller Central and fill in every flagged field, even ones that seem optional.

2. Image problems

Low resolution, non-white background on the main image, watermarks, or missing images are among the most common suppression triggers.

Fix: Replace the main image with a pure white background (RGB 255,255,255), at least 1000px on the longest side, product-only, no text or graphics overlaid.

3. Title or bullet point policy violations

Promotional language (e.g. 'best', 'guarantee', pricing claims), excessive punctuation, ALL CAPS, or emojis in titles and bullets can trigger both suppression and compliance flags.

Fix: Rewrite titles and bullets in plain, factual language: no superlatives, no symbols beyond standard punctuation, no pricing or shipping claims.

4. Wrong category or product type

If a product is listed under a category or product type that doesn't match its actual attributes, Amazon's required-field validation fails and the listing gets suppressed.

Fix: Verify the product type in Seller Central matches what you're actually selling, and re-map any custom attributes that don't fit the category template.

5. Compliance or safety documentation missing

Certain categories (electronics, supplements, children's products) require compliance documents. Missing certificates can suppress the listing even if everything else is correct.

Fix: Check the specific compliance requirements for your category in Seller Central's Help Hub and upload the required certification before appealing.

If none of the above fixes it

Open a case with Seller Support and reference the exact suppression reason shown in your Account Health dashboard — don't submit a generic appeal. Include screenshots of the corrected listing fields. Most suppression issues clear within 24–48 hours once the root cause is actually fixed, not just re-submitted.
